I may be a Tennessee girl, but I’ve always felt like a beach girl at heart. The sound of the waves, the golden light, and the relaxed, barefoot vibe—it’s all pure magic. Every time I get to photograph a family with my toes in the sand, it truly feels like the best of both worlds.

Last year, I met one of my favorite families for a sunset session during their beach vacation in Destin, Florida. I’ve been photographing these sweet kiddos since they were newborns. Sessions with them are always something I look forward to. They greet me with the biggest smiles and warmest hugs. It honestly feels more like catching up with family than work.

That week, the weather wasn’t exactly on our side. Rainy skies lingered most of the week, and we had to keep pushing their session back day after day. We were down to the wire, with one last evening to make it happen before heading home. Luckily, Mother Nature showed up just in time. The skies cleared, the clouds turned golden, and we ended the week with the most beautiful evening light. It was the perfect backdrop for playful, heartfelt beach photos that I know they’ll treasure for years.
