Response to COVID-19

Update April 15, 2020: Governor Lee has extended the stay at home order for the state of TN through the end of the month.  I am cautiously optimistic that we will be able to resume sessions in May, but I will keep you updated as it gets closer.  Thanks for all of your understanding and patience!

Update April 3, 2020: Governor Lee has issued a stay at home order for the state of TN through April 14, 2020.  The CDC has encouraged social distancing through the end of April.  In order to follow this state mandate and the CDC recommendations, the studio will remain closed for the month of April.  Once stay at home mandates are lifted, we will be able to resume studio and outdoor sessions.  I will be in touch with all April sessions to reschedule.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

I have had this blog post in my head for the past week, and I just haven’t been able to find the words.  I am still in shock that we are going through what we are today.  It’s only been a couple of weeks, but it almost feels like a lifetime.  In response to CDC recommendations and the movement to shelter in place, I have made the difficult decision to close my studio until April 3rd.  This includes all indoor and outdoor sessions.  As we all know, this situation is changing every day, and this date may change.

To all of my clients with sessions coming up, I will be in touch so that we can make the best decision for you.  I can’t imagine even a week without holding a sweet newborn or playing with a baby. My heart is broken knowing that I can’t do my job right now.  I put my heart and soul into my business and have never once considered it work.  The financial burden this has put on my business is frightening. I have spent a lot of time crying and praying over this, and I hope we can all do our part to make this end as quickly as possible.

This morning I found peace in this verse

²³ As he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. ²⁴ Suddenly, a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves—but Jesus kept sleeping. ²⁵ So the disciples came and woke him up, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to die!”

²⁶ He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you of little faith?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

²⁷ The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the sea obey him!”

Matthew 8:23-27

No matter how hard this situation is, God is still in control.  This virus is not a surprise to Him.  I am trying my best to find my calm in this storm.
