I am so honored when clients choose me for their first baby’s posed newborn photos. Becoming a new parents is exciting and nerve racking all bundled up into one package. When you first find out you are expecting a baby, I feel like you have a “Pinterest” view of parenthood. You dream of cute outfits, unique gender announcements, the best stroller and baby carries, the list goes on and on… Then baby arrives, and your life switches to conversations about poop and breastfeeding. Then it’s time for the newborn pictures you’ve been envisioning for months, and you are scared to death. What if she doesn’t sleep? What if he cries the whole time? What if she poops all over the blankets? I never want parents to be nervous for their sessions, although I know they will be. My job is to prepare parents for their session so that they know what to expect. However, my most important job is to take care of their baby. After being in business for 8 years and specializing in newborns for 5 years, I never forget how honored I am for parents to hand their new baby to me with complete trust. Every single session focuses on baby and keeping baby comfortable. Posed newborn photos should not be stressful. If a baby tells me that she doesn’t like a pose, we move on. If she needs to be held tight and loved, we stop and give her snuggles. If she’s hungry, we feed her. My goal is to take my time to get those pictures you’ve dreamed of for months. And to do it without stressing out parents AND baby. I’ve trained for years to create a warm and loving environment for new parents and baby, and I hope that shows at each and every one of my sessions. I love my job, and I am honored every single time a parent chooses me to photograph their baby’s first pictures. I love this quote that Gabriela’s mom sent me about her session.
